Daddy Bootcamp

Well, as many of you know, Kevin and Ryan enrolled in Bootcamp for New Dads which was offered through North Memorial Hospital. Since Ryan had already been through endless hours of classes with Ashley, she had to convince him that this class would be different. Luring him with the idea of tossing plastic baby dolls like footballs and taking hourly beer breaks, Ryan drove from Rochester to Robbinsdale. There he joined Kevin for a morning of tips, gripes and tricks to get them through the next few weeks and the years to come.

Now that Kevin has been armed with an endless list of acronyms and warning signs, he has plenty of questions to ask my doctor. He feels like he has been given the secret man-code to understanding pregnancy, childbirth and delivery. Yet, somehow it still baffles him that I find it slightly uncomfortable when the baby pushes on my bladder and lungs at the same time while stretching.

The most valuable lesson that was learned at Daddy Bootcamp was how to properly swaddle a baby. The boys were so confident of their new found skill that they could not wait weeks to swaddle a newborn ... so they swaddled Uncle Austin, instead.
